Dos Pilas

Day 1

  • 8:00 a.m. Departure. We pick you up at your hotel in a minibus.
  • 9:00 a.m. Arrival at the crossroad of Dos Aguadas (about 45 km or 27 miles from Flores)
  • Hike to El Zotz: alter unloading the minibus, we will meet our local guides and start our walk to El Zotz. Horse available to carry luggage. About 20 km (12.5 miles), aprox. 6 hours.
  • Lunch on the way
  • Site exploration: upon arrival, we will set up camp, and before dark we can explore the bats caves.
  • Dinner at El Zotz.
  • Good night.



Day 2

  • Wake up in the jungle.
  • Sunrise and enjoy watching the bats enter the caves
  • Breakfast at El Zotz.
  • Site exploration: visit the Devil´s Pyramid and admire the wildlife and local flora.
  • Lunch at El Zotz.
  • In the afternoon, we will hike 18 Km (11 miles) for about 4 hrs. to El Yesal.
  • Set up camp at El Yesal and dinner
  • Good night.


Day 3

  • Wake up in the jungle.
  • Breakfast at El Yesal.
  • Hike to Tikal: we will leave El Yesal and hike to Tikal National Park, for another 18 Km (11 miles) during about 4 hrs. The horses will leave us here, so we much carry our own backpacks to Tikal.
  • Lunch at a restaurante in Tikal.
  • Site exploration: After lunch discover and admire Tikal Archaeological site on your own.
  • In late afternoon, board the minibus back to your hotel in Flores or Santa Elena.
